appeared with gerald albright (sax player for earth, wind and fire) and
oleta adams. they played big band arrangements of phil's music (phil
played drums) with highlights including gerald albright on "in the air
tonight" and "against all odds." oleta adams and the band performed
"new york state of mind" (billy joel cover) and some standards. during
the encore, phil sang "the way you look tonight" and an awesome quincy
jones cover (i don't know the title). an 80+-car train passed by during
the show and the band spontaneously burst into "chattanooga choo choo,"
which was amusing. rating: b+" |
